Arlington County, Virginia is the home of Mobility Lab, and we’re proud of the work we do with our partners throughout the county’s Commuter Services and Department of Environmental Services divisions.
We often tout the 45,000 car trips that our work contributes directly to removing from the county’s streets each work day. But this video, with slightly outdated statistics, is a great way to publicize how important transportation alternatives have been for getting people to enjoy their experiences living, working, and playing in Arlington.
Another interesting updated number from the video is that, from July 2011 to June 2012, we avoided about 86,000 tons of air pollution.
Our programs work, and our local business leaders continue to tell us it’s a great place to operate. And, consistently, their number-one reason is because the easy access of our transportation systems helps them recruit quality employees who are less stressed from their commutes.
The bottom line? Less traffic congestion equals a higher quality of life.
